We are pleased to announce a new open call, as part of the first student-led exhibition to be held in the Lethaby Gallery, Central Saint Martins. The Age of New Babylon is offering opportunities for artists and speakers to present their work between 22 November and 12 December 2018
The show’s title refers to the anti-capitalist city perceived and designed in 1959-74 as a future potentiality by the architect and visual artist Constant Nieuwenhuys. Constant’s goal was to create an imaginal world in which he could articulate the alternative life experiences and realities of his age.
We are inviting creative, experimental, visual and textual responses to the themes of difference and otherness, and how to (re)frame these as a living archive for the show. We will accept any interpretation of these themes that offers your perspective on the challenges you face in relation to dominant discourses and structures today.
Work of all mediums and formats will be considered for the show. This opportunity is open to all applicants regardless of age and experience.
